It’s Autumn. I love Autumn. It is my favorite time of the year. As the sun moves south in the sky, the shadows lengthen and the days shorten. Nature prepares to dress herself in the glorious colors that can only be seen in the fall.
There is a magic about this time of year. The crunch of dried and fallen leaves, the scent of the first fires of the season wafting from the chimney, the aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves being baked in warm and delicious creations coming from the oven, I love autumn.
Here at the Homestead, fall means the sounds of gobblers – as the turkeys that were tiny chicks in the spring have matured and fill the air with their calls. It is the season of gathering in the bounty of our garden. Our kitchen is temporarily turned into a production zone (my better half would call it a war zone!), planning for future meals and gifts for neighbors, friends, and family.
It is the season of gathering. Coming together with those we love to celebrate the blessings that have been showered upon us.
It is Autumn.
Join us in our celebration.
